Telling a Story...
BIOGRAPHY
David's passion for photography centers on his love of the world going on around us. Whether negotiating the streets of a European city or capturing a moment in his home city of Boston, his skill in capturing the essence of his subjects reflects his deep love in street photography.
While David enjoys the day-to-day responsibilities of his business life, the most rewarding feeling is derived from the time spent in search of new locations and subjects for his photographs. It's this sense of discovery and always wanting to know what's around the next corner that continues to motivate David today both personally and professionally.
Based in Milton, just outside the city of Boston, David lives with his wife Erica collaborating on many aspects of their business lives as well their shared love of photography.
David is a Member of the Photographic Resource Center, (Founded in 1976, the Photographic Resource Center (PRC) is an independent non-profit organization located on the campus of Boston University. The PRC provides its members and the general public with thought-provoking exhibitions; distinctive education programs; wide-ranging resources; and unique specialevents.) As well, David is a long time member and volunteer of The Society of Arts & Crafts, (Incorporated in 1897, The Society of Arts and Crafts has been at the forefront of the American craft movement, fostering the development, sales, recognition and education of crafts for over one hundred years. It’s highly committed founders developed standards of excellence in design and technical mastery for crafts that inspired the American Arts and Crafts Movement.)
STATEMENT
Though I do work in color many times, I truly prefer to work in black & white. I have always liked the emotions and moods black and white photography conveys. It’s the rawness of a black & white photo I feel that really allows you to sense the feelings of the moment captured and enables the story behind the image to be told.
One of the main goals in my photography is to capture images of the “unseen or “unacknowledged” reality around us. Whether it is the image of a boy sharing a moment with his mother, a light moment on a random city street or the light on a building that just seems so right, so perfect, it had to be acknowledged and recorded, I have the desire to not just take a photo, but to tell a story with that image.
As you view my images, I hope you enjoy my photos and I invite you to share in these moments with me.
